Living: The Apatosaurs’ jogged along in herds on riverbanks with trees, eating of the top leaves. The scientists’ have found out, that the "long-necked" could not have their neck in an angle of 90 degrees, because then the blood would not reach their heads for more than a couple of minutes.

The tail was long, so that it did not tip over because of the big neck. Scientist have a theory about that the tail was lifted a couple of feet above the ground. It prevented that the other dinosaurs’ did not stomp on it, and got the tail out of reach of predators. No one knows how the Apatosaurs’ got enough food to their enormous bodies. They have probably eaten constantly, only pausing to cool of, drink or to remove parasites. At night it slept standing upwards. If a predator attacked it, it could defend it self by swinging its tail from side to side, or stomp at the meat-eater. Because of the Apatosaurs’ slow speed, they lived in herds, and they could "call" on each other, if one needed help.

Name-mistakes: Many do not know the name Apatosaurus, but instead the name Brontosaurus. It got its first name after the scientists’ had mistaken a Camarasaurus-tail with an Apatosaurus-tail. When they found out, that the tail belonged to another dinosaur, they changed the name.

Skeleton: The cervical vertebra and the bones in the legs were bigger and heavier than that of Diplodocus, but they both had the long neck and tail. The skull was first identified in 1975, a century after it got its name.

Claw: The Apatosaurus had a claw on its hand. Only the thumb had a claw.

Reconstruction: On the picture you can see Scientist have a theory about the tail was lifted a couple of feet above the ground. It prevented that the other dinosaurs’ did not stomp on it, and putted the tail out of reach of predators.
