Introduction
An introduction to the two main periods that make up the kingdom of Kush.
 
The X-Group Period
The X-Group period followed the collapse of the Meroitic empire and lasted only for a short time. The people of the X-Group period are believed to have been remaining meroites.
 
Napatan Period
An overview of the first royal capital of the Kush kingdom. The Napatan Period is the first time in which Egypt did not have complete control over Nubia since the Colonial Period.
 
The Christian Period
The Christian Period marks the end of the Nubian culture. By the sixth century the Nubians were completely converted to Christianity.
 
Meroitic Period
For reasons unknown, the Kush rulers moved the royal capital to Meroe. This move led to a new period of Kush rule.
