Team Info

This web page was developed by three students located in different regions of the world. The team was created by an American student, John Von Essen, around March of 1998. John heard of the Thinkquest competition through his Independent Study computer teacher, Mr. Paul Hampel. John decided to find two other international team members. Through the internet John explored the web page of a High School in Timisoara, Romania. At that point John contacted Dan Damian, a student of the Romanian High School, and asked if he was interested in joining a web developing team. Dan agreed and the team now had two members. The third team member, Dwayne Benson, was found on an irc chat channel. John and Dwayne discussed the contest and Dwayne acknowledged his interest in joining. Dwayne was a student from Australia. The team now had three members and was ready to start the competition.

All three team members played an important role in the developement of the web page. Many different Internet means of communication were used to communicate, mainly telnet, irc chat, and E-mail. John was responsible for gathering most of the information to be used in the web page. Dan provided the team with graphic design and scripts development. Dwayne helped out in writing html code and and debuging code. There was not a single moment in which any student did not have a positive input on the final version of the web site.
