Why Fish?

Due to the shortage of arable land for the cultivation of food crops to feed the world's population which is predicted to reach 8.5 billion by the year 2030, we turn to the ocean, which covers about 70% of the earth's surface, for food instead of reclaiming land from the sea or building irrigation facilities, which both are costly, to increase agricultural land.

Uses of Fish.

As food, many of us consume fishes because it is easily disgestable, palatable and has many nutritional benefits. It is an important source of protien, minerals and calories. Other then being an alternative as meat, one-third of the world's fish catch is use as raw materials for manufacturing products like fish meals to feed livestock, fertilizers and glues.

How Fishing Affects the Industry.

Also, the fishing industry stimulates the  growth of related industries such as shipping and repairing, the maufacturing of nets and other fishing equipment and the production of tin cans and ice. The export of fresh and canned fish and other fish products provides a source of forgein exchange.
