FAMOUS BRIDGES ACROSS THE GANGA

It is believed to be the swing built by Lakshman the younger

brother of lord ram, to help his brother and wife cross the river.

It is a unique hanging bridge made of thick ropes mainly. It is a thrilling

experience to walk across the bridge with the swirling waters below.

GANGA BRIDGE AT HARDWAR

This bridge is located at Hardwar, which is a holy place according to Hindu religion.

Aarti’s (offerings) are offered at sunset daily at Har Ki Pauri, Hardwar.

GANGA BRIDGE AT VARANASI

This is very famous as many pilgrims visit this place to take a holy dip in the

bathing ghats on the banks of the river.

INDIRA GANDHI BRIDGE AT PATNA

It is a recently constructed bridge, which is named after Late PrimeMinister

Indira Gandhi.

HOWRAH BRIDGE AT CALCUTTA

Also called ‘Rabindra Sethu’ after the great Bengal poet, is a very

famous bridge which is synonymous with Bengal. It is a cantilever bridge,

which is an engineering marvel. It is the Gateway to Bengal. In Calcutta,

another bridge ‘Vidhyasagar Sethu’ was constructed recently.
