GROTTE DOMICA
Itīs located on the southeast coast of the Silicka plane in Slovenský kras, not far from the hungarian
frontier. The enter is on the south side in an altitude of 339 m.
3 horizontal levels are in a relative distance of 8 -12 m. The lowest one is stuck with an earth and gravel.
The cavern is 5080 m long. It makes an genetic esemble with a cavern Baradia in Hungary, together 25 km long.
The decoration of this cave is specific for some forms of sintre like drums, uncommon lakes (Rimske kupele, Plitvicke jazierka), etc.
The cavern gives roof to 11 species of bat, most frequently to Rhinolphus euryale, usually in the biggest number in whole Europe.
Thatīs why you can see, in Prales, Palmovy haj or Dom indickych pagod, a thick layer of a bat dung.
This cave is the most important location of a neolit culture (4000 B.C.). More than 200 reconstructed vessels serve as an evidence for a produce of pottery in the cavern.
A stone point of arrow, found in the cave, is 35 000 years old.
