This castle is among our best preserved castles. It was built in place of a former castle. Its location was very convenient even after the Tartar invasion for protection of mines in the towns
of Dobsina, Stitnik, and Brzotin. Its owner, the Bebek family, and later on, the Andrassy owners, were
typical estate owners, the founders of rich feudal families, the fate of which was reflected in the
construction development of the district (zhupa) castle. They grew rich, they fought against each other,
and they betrayed each other, and they even betrayed their Sovereign. Some Members of these families
became allies and others opponents to the Turkish invaders and there were still others who became robber
barons. Rises and downfalls as well as attempts to revive and glorify the family fame resulted in founding
a family museum.
