BYTCA

The Bytca chateau is part of an extensive building complex, which is among the most significant Renaissance feudal residences in Slovakia. This building complex was built during Bytca the Thurzo family construction activities. The dominant part of the complex is the fourwinged manor house with an arcade courtyard and circular towers on the corners. The construction work on this complex started in 1571 in place of a medieval castle. The wedding palace is also part Palace of betrotheds of the manor house complex. It was built in front of the castle area in the years 1601-1605 for family ceremonies, such as weddings and hunts. The Bytca chateau, which is the work of architect Master Kilian of Mediolana who is immortalized on an arcade wall of the courtyard, became the basic architectonic type of feudal buildings in our territory following the example of Italian town palaces.
