BUDATIN
The old core of the castle consists of a
circular fortified tower from the l3th
century. In the l4th century a palace and several other buildings were incorporated into
the stronghold. The Late Gothic and Renaissance modifications were promoted by the Sunog
family and they gave the building a unified architectonic style. Budatin became a memorable
place in the history of the Slovak people. The Slovak insurrectionists led by M. Hurban fought
here in the revolutionary years of 1848-1849.
