BRODZANY

The original foundations of this manor house belonged to the l6th century Renaissance block-type building with four towers. The manor house was extended in 1669 when the construction activity was promoted by the Kvassay family, the successors of the Brodzianski owners and its Brodzany appearance has been preserved during the current rennovation activities. The l9th century marked the history of the manor house by lively Russian-Slovak relations. Both wives of Gustav Vogel of Friesenhof, owner of the estate since 1844, were close relatives of A. Pushkin. It was Alexandra Pushkin N. Goncharova who after her arrival to Brodzany refined her artistic, musical, and literary tastes and kept in touch with the artists and family members who often visited her in this residence. The Brodzany-Pushkin tradition laid foundations to the local Literary Museum.
