As you know, a
tissue
is a group of cells. You have four types of tissue in your teeth.
Pulp
is sensitive and holds the nerves and blood vessels deep down in the root of the tooth.
Dentin
is the hard material like your bones that surrounds the pulp.
Cementum
is a thin layer of material just like dentin, but it covers the root of your tooth.
Enamel
is the hard material that we see when we look at teeth. It covers the top of each tooth.
Here is a picture of what a molar (one
of the flat teeth for grinding food) looks
like. Remember, the only part we ever
see is the top, white part.
