  Description

The bigeye tuna is one of five varieties of tuna that has been harvested for centuries. All tuna belong to the Sombridae family of mackerels. Like all tunas, bigeyes are fast swimmers that can cover thousands of miles in several weeks during their seasonal migrations. Albacore tuna are marketed at sizes between 9 and 45 kg (20 to 100 lbs) although they can grow to over 225 kgs (500 lbs).
