Classical music has only
been referred to as ‘classical’ in recent history. It was never written
in the ‘style’ of classical music, so much as it was written in the style
of the day. The same occurs in our life as we refer to the music
in our days as modern or popular. Classical music has existed throughout
many centuries, but it too had to develop (duh!), therefore different periods
of time were created so that they can describe the stages music went through.
Listed below are the three main periods as we know it.
