Special Effects Technicians manipulate pictures to make normal images turn into weird and interesting images. Special effects play a big part in many different movies, TV programs, advertising, and printing. It involves a lot of hands-on work, but that doesn't mean that you have to be a really artsy person to be apart of this field. In other word, it's not necessary to have drawing abilities because a lot of special effects are created on a computer. Although it would be good to have a background in some areas of special effects, it's not mandatory. It's also good to have a background in computers. This field looks like it is going to get bigger and bigger as the years progress. The salaries in this field vary. The amount that could be expected to earn would be anywhere from $40,000 to $80,000. As a caution, this field is hard to break into because there aren't many openings. Anyone would enjoy this job if he/she likes to manipulate pictures or enjoys making things move in unpredictable ways.
