Animation Experts

  • Vince Backeburg('bak-ee-berg'): Vince is one whom we consider to be an expert clay animator. He worked for Will Vinton Studios for four years. His filmography explains his credibility by itself. He is truly gifted and amazing, not to mention that he is very polite about returning e-mails promptly. His website is also awesome!
  • Doctor Michael Frierson: Dr. Frierson is professor of broadcasting cinema at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro (UNCG). He wrote the informative book Clay Animation: American highlights 1908 to the Present. He is definitely a wonderful and insightful resource.
  • William Fiesterman: Former Art Director/Senior Animator at Will Vinton Productions. He is an Illustrator/Animator/Multimedia Director. I suggest that you check out his website which is also very cool.
  • John Lemmon: A commercial clay animator. He has capitalized on the technique of clay replacement, restoring the 'bouncy' feeling of cel animation to clay.
  • Robert Terrell: Although he now does a lot with 3D Computer Animation, Robert also spent some time working at Will Vinton Studios. His filmography is also quite impressive, as is his website.
