A traitor of the greatest kind Akechi might have been, but perhaps we should take a closer look at his motives before judging him? Nothing is ever in black and white and quite often, facts can become distorted with the passing of time. Not that I'm sticking up for someone who betrayed another's trust, but according to the information here, Nobunaga was a cruel and vicious man who never spared his enemies. Perhaps he might even have deserved what he got? Frankly speaking, I don't think he deserves be hailed as a hero just because he was a great military genius. He seemed to have lacked the basic human values of compassion and such and what is a truly great man without those?
Say if I were in Akechi's shoes, I do not think that I would have been able to back-stab Nobunaga. I mean, here is a man who trusts you. Trust doesn't come easy to humans and one should always value one's friends. However, if I had no choice but to kill Nobunaga, I'd loathe myself for life. His death would haunt me forever and I'd never find peace of mind.
As for Nobunaga, if I were him, I would understandably be hurt and upset. But the foremost thing on my mind would be the question why? I would be wondering why my trusted general betrayed me and how I could have misplaced my trust. I would want to find out where I had gone wrong or whether I had misjudged him from the start. (Oops... I think I turned this into a mini essay... gomen!)

I guess the most earth-shaking news now would be the White House scandal, what with people - not only the Americans, but people all over the world debating about the affair. I think the betrayal lies in Clinton's betrayal of his wedding vows to his wife, and Linda Tripp (Monica Lewinsky's good friend) telling the whole world about her supposedly 'best friend's' secrets. I reckon that's what life's biggest tragedies about - being cheated by the people you love most.

If I were Oda Nobunaga, I would feel extremely angry - don't forget the person you trusted most suddenly drove his knife into your back! Of course, at this moment of time, there is nothing you can possibly do but to die honorably. The traitor, Akechi, has his name spat at all throughout history, while Oda Nobunaga is regarded as Japan's war genius of all time. Can you imagine being the traitor and watching your descendants carrying your surname bear all the shame??

No entries? or what. I shall be the first. (and the last) as no one else shall survive this jouney. Grabbing my mouse i shall tear this website down with a touch of its head. Yes, the fittest shall survive. I dun even need the time machine.
