Role of light in Photosynthesis
Not all wavelengths
of light are absorbed by chlorophyll. Of all the colors, green
least absorbed, hence the reason that leaves look green. From the
diagram we see that percentage absorbtion fluctuates with the
lowest point above the wavelength of green, thus blue and red are
used to the greatest benefit. Even though green has the lowest
absorbtion, it still absorbs about 20%, this is due the fact that
there are other enzymes other than chlorophyll active in the
leaf.
