One of the ways for producing much food for a low price is adapting the feed. It's the easiest way when you want more meat on an animal. There are some grow hormones that can give quick results. The growing of the meat goes very quick. But that's a negative point for the fat of the animal. Most grow hormones are prohibited. But some farmers still use them and  they try everything to prevent discovery. Many farmers give their cattle food that's as cheap as possible. But cheap food sometimes is bad food. So there are a few farmers who give their cattle offal. That's the reason why BSE or the mad-cow-disease was spread so quickly in the UK. But in Holland there were a few cases too. Because of the bad circumstances in general and the bad food in some cases the animals get weak during their stay in the bio-industry farm.    Sometimes there is just one possibility left, feeding them power food. But that doesn't always have a positive result.
