Antibiotics
Antibiotics are used as
a kind of drugs in the bio-industry. A farmer can give the animals
antibiotics himself if an animal is sick or he can call a vet.
To keep the animals of the
bio-industry nicely in their stables, the farmers sometimes give the animals
antibiotics too. This is given through the food, the drinking water or
by injections. These antibiotics take care that the animals behave calmly
and that natural behaviour (of for instance pigs sticking their noses
into the mud) is suppressed. This is easier for the farmer, because he
has less work to do. But it is dull for the animals because their natural
intuition is suppressed.
If an animal gets sick and
a farmer gives it antibiotics, the animal has got antibiotics in his body.
If the animal is taken to the butcher, and the meat is prepared, the meat
will also be tested. If the meat contains too many antibiotics , the meat
isn't sold and becomes offal
