The five major world religions of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism have been separated into two groups. The two groups are the western religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) and the eastern religions (Buddhism and Hinduism). Both have enormous differences.

The Western Religions
Early western societies felt a need to know who created or what they originated from. Creation stories have come from this thirst for knowledge. The western religions' believe that a deity (God) created the living world. This belief is expressed in Genesis. Genesis is expressed in the Old Testament. Muslims also believe in Genesis.

The Eastern Religions
The eastern religions of Buddhism and Hinduism have a common Indo-European cultural background. The Indo-European culture includes all countries in Europe except for those who speak a tongue in the Finno-Ugrian family of languages (Lapp, Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian). Most Indian and Iranian languages belong to the Indo-European family of languages.
