The Indo-Europeans, where the two Oriental religions of Buddhism and Hinduism originated from, had in common the belief of many gods (this belief is called polytheism). For example, the ancient Greeks believed in Zeus, Hercules and other gods.

Plus, Buddhism and Hinduism share a cyclic view of history. Therefore they believed that there was no beginning to the universe, thus no ending, but there are many different civilizations that rise and fall in an eternal interplay between birth and death.

Let's allege that the universe has no beginning or ending. Then we must ask ourselves what if anything can last forever if there is no beginning. This is probably the only major fault with the eastern religion's belief in the origin of humankind.
