Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA)

    This organization is the largest, most influential aviation association in the world. It has more than 340, 000 members, half of all the pilots in the United States. It is a service organization for its members.

Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance (AWAM)

    This is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide opportunities for women who work in the aviation maintenance fields to have a place to share information and network, education, to foster a sense of community and increase in public awareness of women in the industry.

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA)

    This organizations is for pilots and non-pilots alike who like the world of flying. It offers activities for the entire family on all levels. It also offers programs to help those who are building and restoring aircraft. This organization was founded in the year 1953.

Helicopter Association International (HAI)

    This is a non-profit, professional trade association. It consists of over 1,400 member organizations from over 70 nations. HAI wants to promote the helicopter as a safe efficient method of transportation, and to the advancement of the civil helicopter industry.

International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA+21)

     This organization has about 547 members from 34 countries. Its mission is to encourage women to enter the airline pilot workforce. They want to promote aviation science among women.

The Ninety-Nines

    This is an international organization consisting of licensed women pilots from 35 countries. They currently have more than 6, 500 members. Almost all women of achievement in aviation are members of The Ninety-Nines. This is an organization that came about in 1929 by Amelia Earhart and Louise Thaden. It was named The Ninety-Nines because of the 99 charter members.

The Whirly Girls Inc.

     This organization is a non-profit, charitable, educational association of women helicopter pilots. It was founded in 1955. In March of 1996, they had 1050 women as members from 29 different countries. Its goals include the exchange of information, promotion of interest among women in helicopters, and advancement of the acceptance of rotary wing aircraft in the community.

Women in Aviation International (WAI)

     This organization was made to encourage women to seek opportunities in aviation. This organization includes members of all sorts such as astronauts, corporate pilots, maintenance technicians, air traffic controllers, business owners, educators, journalists, flight attendants, high school and university students, and many others. It also encourages women to consider having a career in aviation.

Women Soaring Pilots Association (WSPA)

    An organization meant to promote all aspects of soaring for women glider pilots. It was founded on June 11, 1986 in Tucson, AZ. The current membership includes 170 pilots including International pilots.
