Chemists at the University of Florida announced that Green Chemistry is helping them transform environmental waste into prescription medication. Toxins like oil are mixed with a bacterium, which eat away the harmful ingredients and leaves behind the useful components. This can be used to help reduce environmental pollution while also providing additional medicine for the world.

An international team of scientists at the University of Hawaii announced that their method for cloning mammels (so far just mice) will now be used for the production of pharmaceuticals. The team created 3 generations-including over 50 individuals-of the same mice. Though they have only experimented with mice they hope to begin testing on cattle soon.
