Welcome to the database chronicling the history of two islands with one thing in common: they once made up two of the most notorious and feared prisons in the world. As part of the ThinkQuest competition, the primary aim of this site is to educate and inform, and to promote and link between various resources on the Internet, to create one large group of sites dealing with this theme, and aid students in obtaining the maximum of information. The team is based in South Africa, and so our main focus lies on Robben Island. Although we have researched the islands as thoroughly as we could, one always finds that pieces slip through, and so if you find anything that we have not managed to add, please add it to our guestbook. |
