Q : How did you come up with the name "Traditional Turks"?

A : I don't know, it just popped into my head. When i come up with titles or ideas, they don't just form from what i intend it to be, they just pop up in my head. That's the best i can explain it.

Q : How would you describe your story as?

A : It's just a sitcom basically, about daily trivialities, people and their differences and what happens when we put them together.

Q : What inspired you to write this?

A : Like i said, when an idea pops into my head, and I get all excited about it, I'd just expand on it, and develop it. I was just struck by a spark of inspiration.

Q : What was your acting/scripting background like?

A : Writing background, none, that was my first project/production. Acting background will be the minor plays that I've acted in, and I've written a small play for our school's Wednesday "Under the linkway" class production in Sec1. That's all. I love performing though.

Q : Did you meet any difficulties while writing this play?

A : Difficulties, well... none actually, but i stopped after the 1st episode because I thought there was no need to carry on since I won't be screening it. Sitcoms NEVER end. Some people said that my sitcom was cheesy and cliche, so, maybe it's not my piece of cake.

Q :  How long did this take you?

A :  I wrote part of it during the O' Levels exams (end of Year 10 examinations) and then I stopped because there was the December holiday and I didn't want to touch paper or pens after the exams. After that in Secondary  School I was invited to my friend's debut production/play called "Discomfort" in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and I was inspired again to complete the sitcom.

Q : Okay, we are reaching the end. Any last words?

A : Nothing much to say, I guess I just love performing and thinking about people perform, choreographing, creating images of the stage and how I'd make it come alive. That's what I do most of the time when I daydream.
What did I think of the sitcom? I think..... I think it could have been better.

We have reached the end of our interview with Serene. A humble person indeed. Serene is writing her next play, "3 seconds of the running man".
