recall that rate*time=distance (uniform motion), so time=distance/rate

suppose d is the distance the bullet traveled.

let t₁=d/1100 (time it takes to hear report of gun)

let t₂=d/1650 (time it takes to hear impact [or feel bullet penetrate body part])

t₁ = t₂ + 1/4

now solve for d.
