: I know this is really simple for all of you, but I have forgotten all my geometry. How do you figure the length of the third side of a triangle if you have the lengths of the other two sides? Thanks for your help!

Sorry, Sally ~ but you can't!
You need more information.

Is it a right triangle?
What is the angle between the two sides?

Think about it!
I have a triangle with sides 10 and 10.
Can you even GUESS what kind of triangle it is?
It could be isosceles with (almost) ANY third side.
It could even be equilateral...
