Thanx for your help Mr. k. :)
so I worked out the problem
===> x = (-1.6180340) and x = (.6180340)
The book had this in radical form, so I wonder if there was a different way of doing this problem or if they just converted these decimals to radical form. I don't know how to get the radical form from these decimals :(, could someone show me how please.
x= -(1/2)+(1/2)sqrt 5
x= -(1/2)-(1/2)sqrt 5

: : 7^(x-1)=(sqrt7)^(-2x^2)

: : 7^(x-1)=7^[(1+(1/2))(-2x^2)]...this should be ..7^(x-1)=7^[(1/2)*(-2x^2)]

: : 7^(x-1)=7^[(3)x^2]...this should be ..7^(x-1)=7^[-x^2]

: : (x-1)=[-x^2]

: x^2 + x - 1 = 0 ..........take it from here Quadratic equation

: : I am not even close to the answer, now I am lost :(
