The problem was (I said this wrong) 1 over 7x and 1 over 8x. When I entered it into the calculator, I did 1/7x and 1/8x, rather than
1/(8x) and 1/(7x), so it computed sevenths and eighths. I checked it again on the calculator, and found that the book was right. Thanks anyway, cause it helps to think these things through. -1/112 is right.
