I don't think so. I looked it up and it didn't say anything about who discovered it. Of course, if I discovered something like a new formula, I wouldn't do the sensible thing and call it C. No, I would have to do the mathematical thing and call it something weird like q or v or w or something close to the end of the alphabet like that.
