The odds of being chosen for the softball team are 15 to 6. Tell whether the event is best describes as impossible, unlikely, likely to occur half the time, quite likely, or certain. Explain your reasoning.
The answer in the back of the book is given as 'quite likely' because the probability is about .7. I just don't understand how they arrived at the .7 answer. Would someone please take the time to explain this to me? It's been years and years since I've done this stuff and I can't remember how. I've got a student asking for help with homework and I'm stymied.
