For parallel lines do (x-1)(x+1)=0. They only solutions are -1 and 1. If you want more parallel lines (x-2)(x+2)=0 the solutions are -2 and 2. You can also do (x-1)(x+1)(x-2)(x+2)=0 and this will give you the solutions -1, 1, -2, and 2.
