: The costs for sales of popcorn can be expressed like this:

: y=1,75x + 500

: x is the number of popcorn cones
: y is the total cost
: 500 is the cost for rental of the popcorn machine

THINK OF THE EQUATION AS THE FORMULA: Y =MX + B. B REPRESENTS YOUR Y-INTERCEPTS, AND 1.75 REPRESENTS YOUR SLOPE. TO FIND WHERE YOUR LINE CROSSES THE X-AXIS, SET YOUR EQUATION TO:
0=1.75X + 500
-500=1.75X
X = -285.714
