The slopes hypotenuses (grammar-police will get me!!)of the blue and the yellow triangles are not same. So when those are stacked up - it is not a perfect triangle. That's where the "illusion" of a big triangle comes up.
If you realize that you did not have that big triangle ( but a had a quadrilateral)then there is no puzzle!!
