: I need help understanding maximums and minimums here is a example problem x^3-6x^2+12x-4 I need to know how to get the set points and whether it is a max or min

Scott,
The example is an unfortunate one. While a cubic function is usually "interesting", this one
has only one critical value -- and it's an inflection point. Not the best example for
explaining max/min.

Perhaps you can submit another one?
