Although the term "vegan" started in the United Kingdom about 50 years ago with the formation of the Vegan Society, the practice of not eating animal products actually began long ago.
As written about in Why Vegan, there are various religion reasons to become vegan. They have been practiced for thousands of years. There are many verses from the bible also proving that veganism has been around for a long time, even since the beginning of time.
Although now days, the majority of people do not practice the concept of veganism, we are seeing an increasing vegetarian/vegan trend in the past century. More and more people are realizing the effects of consuming animals products and are many are changing their diets.
In the future, we can expect veganism to become even more popular. Organic produce and natural foods will also prevail. As more people become vegans, the easier it will be for vegans to obtain the right foods, eat at restaurants, and attend social events. The price difference between vegan and non-vegan foods should also be reduced.
