-----Original Message----- My friend, Benjamin Shell, and I are currently involved in the 1997-1998 International Thinkquest Competition, a non-profit contest promoting educational web sites. Our site, Veganet, involves the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. In our section about gardening, we would like to use a small number of low-quality, low-resolution video clips from the Microsoft Complete Gardening CD-ROM (no longer available for purchase) in Microsoft Netshow, Real Video, and Vivo formats along side with our own videos we recorded ourselves. We will recognize the media as from Microsoft directly on the pages linking to the videos and directly in the videos themselves. We will not alter the videos in any way other than converting them to the low-quality, low resolution video formats as mentioned above. I attached small screenshots of the videos we plan on using in our entry. Out of the 89 videos and animations on the Microsoft Complete Gardening CD-ROM, we plan on using only 8 in Microsoft Netshow, Real Video, and Vivo formats. Here are the files locations for the video clips we hope to be using, as found on the Microsoft Complete Gardening CD-ROM (all files referenced here are located in the G:\DATA\AVI directory of the Microsoft Complete Gardening CD-ROM):
We have no intentions to redistribute the content found on the Microsoft Complete Gardening CD-ROM, just uniting them with our own video footage to provide a complete resource and information stories to create a useful resource on gardening. Our other intention is to give a preview of what is available on the CD-ROM and hopefully people will see how useful this product is, although it is no longer available to the general public for purchase. We plan on converting a small number of the videos as found on the CD-ROM to a lower resolution for streaming media over the Internet as previews. You can view how we intend to use these video clips and animations on an incomplete copy of Veganet found at http://www.saber.net/~gundoo/veganet/how_videos.htm . Your prompt reply and permission to use these files would be greatly appreciated.
