Veganet Site Information

Optimal Viewing
This version of Veganet has been designed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 in mind. If you are using this browser, then you should be able to get the most out of this site. We have designed our site to conform to the World Wide Web (W3) Consortium's HTML 4.0 transitional specification, which means that the site will view better with newer browsers.

If you think that you are not viewing this site correctly, please see the first screenshot (of our home page) below for comparison. If your screen does not look similar to the screenshot, you can try a number of things. 1) Change your screen resolution to 800 by 600. 2) Change your monitor color settings to 16-bit or above. 3) Use Internet Explorer 4.0 or above. Numbers 1 and 2 can be accessed in the Control Panel under "Display" in a Windows computer. Screenshots 2 and 3 show the Control Panel and Display Properties.

If the above suggestions did not remedy your problems, we recommend you use the text-only version of Veganet. The text-only version has been designed for speed and compatibility with all browsers.

Our choice to recommend Internet Explorer 4.0 (IE4) is because IE4 is best browser supporting the cascading style sheet (CSS) standard specified by the W3 Consortium. Style sheets help to create a robust and consistent layout for each page because every page is referencing the same CSS file and there is no room for human error. Style sheets are a powerful way to add formatting to HTML pages, which include setting margins, change link colors, specify font sizes in points, and color of the text. Having support full support from Internet Explorer 4.0 and preliminary support from Netscape's recent browser, we feel that CSS will become more prevalent and widely supported.

Navigation
On the enhanced version of Veganet, we have the navigation tool bar on the left which takes you directly to the content of its section. For example, clicking on "What is a vegan?" will bring to the What section and answer the question: What is a vegan?

Each section of Veganet is color coordinated; for examaple, the When section is purple and the Who section is yellow. As you move from section to section, the theme color will be changed accordingly.

Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks are found on every page of the site. On this site, a hyperlink is a word that is underlined and turns your cursor into a hand when you pass over it, like this. A visited link will appear black.

Some links in this area will let you leave Veganet. The linked sites are not under the control of Veganet authors and they are not responsible for the content of any linked site or any link contained in a linked site, or any changed or updates to such sites. The Veganet authors are providing these links to you only as a convenience, and the inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement of the site.

Multimedia Files
Multimedia files such as images and movies are used on our web site. Most web browsers have built-in support for .viv or .avi. If not, your browser might direct you to the proper web site to download the appropriate helper application or plugin that enables you to listen to a certain file format. Video players for the .avi, Vivo, and Real Video format are available for many platforms and are also available for many browsers as plugins.
