Description

For a description of humans, look around you. Look at yourself. If you comprehend this, you are probably human. Or else, you're some strange alien being that is receiving some emissions from this computer.
Anyway, genetic variations have changed the ways different people look. Not everybody looks like the people in your neighborhood. There are five major racial groups, with many variations in each group. All people are descended from the major ones (Australoid, Negroid, Caucasoid, Mongoloid, or Capoid) and fit into one many smaller subgroups.

The skin colors of these races range from almost snowy white to coal black. Each special combination of genes is pictured on the Van Luschan scale. Other genetic traits may also appear. They are either dominant (more likely to come up) or recessive (less likely). Luckily, the bad ones are generally recessive. Pictured below are a few different gene traits:

Albinism (recessive) exists when someone does not produce any melanin (the protection and coloration of skin, hair and eyes). Skin and hair become as white as sheets and eyes are red, because there is nothing blocking us from seeing the blood vessels in the eyes. It can be very dangerous. Even being out in the sun for a short amount of time can be harmful. It would give an albino terrible sunburn because no melanin stops the skin from burning.

The Habsburg Lip (Dominant) is an interesting genetic trait that occurred in the Habsburg European royal family. The lower lip and chin protrude, sometimes forcing the mouth open.

Of giants and Dwarves.

Dwarfism (Dominant) causes a small version of a person with almost-normal proportions, but undersized limbs. This is different than midgetism, which is caused solely by a defective pituitary gland, stunting growth of all parts of the body.

Giantism is also often the result of a defective gland, resulting in heights of over eight feet. Genes can also cause giantism. People who have "gigantic genes" usually are less than eight feet. Sometimes gigantism is affected by a combination of the two causes.
