Humans have changed nature even more. By breeding plants, humans have made tomatoes resistant to frost (and also making them blue or yellow), better tasting or healthier veggies, and just plain scientific experiments. The benefits of this are obvious. With 40-pound or 4-foot long radishes one can feed a lot of people or livestock. If one can make these year-round, whew! Other plants that have been altered are roses. We now have made over 8,000 different types of them. Begonia hybirds have been grown, also. An advantage to these lovely flowers is that only one plant is needed! Just cut off part of one of it's tubers (underground stems), and put it in the ground. Presto!- you will have another begonia. |
