Cytobactera, commonly known as Blue-Green Algae, were probably the first life on earth. It gets its name from its blue-green color. Algae have some features of a plant, as well as some of an animal. Chlorophyll, commonly associated with plants, is found in Blue-green algae, but it also acts as an animal in many ways. An exact classification of whether it is a plant or an animal has not been made. Some consider it an animal, and others a plant. Because of the fact the algae contains both plant and animal characteristics, it is very possible that all life, both plant and animal, evolved from algae alone. |
