Geology

After the Mesozoic's hot, wet, soggy, and muggy climate, the Cenozoic gave mammals a nice, cool atmosphere to evolve in (much to the dissappointment of dinosaurs, who died out because of it). All landmasses, mountain ranges, and geography that we know today was refined in the Cenozoic.

Animal Life

Mammals (and specifically the human mammal) are the stars of this Era. It has been called "The Age of the Mammals" because of that fact. Humans can also be counted as mammals, and in the past 2 million years, we have become the most advanced of all species. See why in the Holocene's Creature Feature.

Plant Life

The Cenozoic could also be called the "Age of Flowering Plants" because of the abundance of Angiosperms (technical name for flowering plants). Even grass is a flowering plant! Mammals have evolved to take advantage of this, of course.
