The history of ginseng in America
The American ginseng appeared in Montreal/Canada in the 18th
century for the
first time and was taken from New England to Wisconsin/USA later.
Today there are three varieties of ginseng in America:
wild ginseng having become very rare and partly being over 30 years old
pointing to its high quality; woods grown ginseng having been cultivated
in the forest and whose 6-10 year-old roots´ quality is between the
one of wild and cultivated ginseng; cultivated ginseng mainly growing in
Wisconsin with there being the best conditions. Consequently the quality
of cultivated ginseng is best there.
