Gaining of mint oil by steam distillation
Many liquids with a high boiling point can be distilled at a
temperature of 100°C by heating it combined with water or by leading
steam over it during heating it. Mint oil, which is situated in the leaves
of the mint plant, belongs to these liquids. In order to gain it the leaves
and water are put into a vessel and heated. The developing steam undoes
the oil from the leaves, tears it at itself in order to collect in the
distillate.
