The Making of A Tour in Beijing
A Tour in Beijing, a collection of knowledges of Beijing, the capital city of China, is a gain of the work in about 3 months of the collaboration among three high school students and their coach. The project forms a 1998 entry in ThinkQuest, an annual contest that challenges students to use the Internet as a collaborative teaching and learning tool.

The team submitted a proposal concept to ThinkQuest and once it was approved, work began in full earnest. We plan to make A Tour in Beijing the best web-site on the Internet. We collected various of data and took the photos for almost all scenic spots for the website.

Then, because of the geographical limits, we had to contact each other with Modem, but it's faster than using the Internet.

Finally, in August 30, We've finished the testing of the webpages.

Some features in the website:

• Compatible for MSIE, Netscape, and other browsers supports and doesn't supports JavaScripts.
• Over 50 pictures are used to enchance the site
• Over 1.6 million words was read as the materials.
• Dynamatic Features for the texts(IE4/5 only)

The Web Team
The web team consists of Li Xin, Chen Chen and Wang Ligong and their coache Wang Qiushui.

Li Xin (delphij@163.net)
I am 15 years old at the beginning of the project. I learned in High School Attached to the People's University of China. In September I'll go to the Seinor 2 grade. I liked programming very much, and I can write programs in C++, Java, Pascal, BASIC, and Macro Assembler. I like music, sports like basketball, or making software with my friends. For techinical reasons I perfer using Microsoft Internet Explorer to Netscape Communicator. As the teamleader I write all scripts for the webpage, and a little part of the English Editon of the webpage.

Chen Chen
I am 16 years old, learning in High School Attached to the People's University of China. I can play basketball well, and I like it. And I'm the only one in the team in the Hui Nation. I learned to process pictures with Adobe Photoshop. I wrote all articals in the project in Chinese, processed all photos for the project, and made the artworks.

Wang Ligong
I am 15 years old as the project is started. I've been the first place in the national English contest, so I do the translations in the project -- I translate all articals into English.  I like classical music.
