AN INTRODUCTION TO THE KORYO HAND ACUPUNCTURE

Koryo Hand Acupuncture is an unique therapeutic method, based on 23 years of scientific research and clinical experiences, offers effective and practical health care which can be applied even as a home remedy. The first edition of Koryo Hand Acupuncture Therapy (KHAT) written by Dr Tae-Woo Yoo, was published and translated into many different languages ( English, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish ).

In addition to more than 60 other texts, KHAT has been in effort to familiarize its theories to the public. In 1978, the first Korean-Japanese Koryo Hand Acupuncture Therapy Symposium was held. The 13th symposium was assembled in 1994. Seminars in KHAT is being held on a regular basis in Columbia every year from 1994. Also, the American-Korean Oriental Medicine Symposium was held in 1995. On December 6th and 7th, 1996, Dr Tae-Woo Yoo taught KHAT at a special seminar in Barcelona, Spain. Now, seminars in KHAT professional training are held on a regular basis in Los Angels, San Francisco, Boston and New York.

In 1984, KHAT first stepped into the United States when Dr. Yoo was invited to give a lecture in a seminar where 10 thousands people, who were involved in health professions, participated. In 1988, Dr. Yoo, the founder and chairman, taught KHAT as an official course subject. A research and development institute was established in South Baylo university, LA.,CA. to further develop KHAT in the U.S. Today, there are 160 KHAT institutes established worldwide. KHAT has been originated and developed in Korea by Dr. Tae-Woo Yoo, O.M.D. PH.D. Now, we are teaching and exporting it to Japan, U.S.A, Canada, South America, Russia, Europe, Africa, and East Asia. This is an unique acupuncture, treating only on the hands by giving mild stimulation that is free from pain, danger, or toxicity. It is a proper method for home care and professional treatment. Since its presentation in 1975, more than 1,500,000 people in Korea have been applying it for the care of various kinds of diseases. This experience in Korea makes us confident that the people all over the world will come to apply KHAT in the near future, and it will contribute a great deal to the health of mankind. This method focuses on self-cure treatment. The functions of the human organs can be manipulated. the human body can prevent and resist against illness by itself. KHAT theorizes that the hand is a micro-universe of the human body; therefore the parts of human body can be functionally controled by the corresponding points on our hands. According to the theory of KHAT, there are 14 micro-meridians and 345 acupuncture points on our hands. By stimulating these points, the physiological function of the whole body can be regulated. Theoretically, KHAT rests firmly on the theories of Yin and Yang, Five elements, Internal Zang-Fu organs, and Meridians of energy flow. However, it is unique in the fact that it uses painless and less invasive techniques which are virtually free from side effects and only requires minimal stimulation to have effective results. This therapy can be an ideal treatment method which can be easily acquired and practiced conveniently by anybody. As with Western medicine, KHAT cannot cure all diseases, but where KHAT is indicated as the best system of healing without side effects, it should be applied for the sake of the patient's health. With the birth of KHAT, a new history of acupuncture has begun with even greater possibilities than ever before. As KHAT become more recognized and acknowledged, we look forward to be able to provide more accessible efficacious public health care to all people.

Tips how to cure your diseases : Refer to the diagrams and stimulate the points (meridians) on your hand one or two times with a Koryo acupuncture needles. According to your symptoms, the points are changing. It is quite simple and easy to apply and has no side effects! There are 14 micro-meridians and 345 acupuncture points on our hands. By stimulating these points, the physiological function of the whole body can be regulated. A method of restoring energy balance to promote healing and functioning through inserting needles at precise points on the body. Heat is often applied over acupuncture point (Seoam moxibustion) to strengthen the energy flow. Meridians, channels of energy, run like energy currents throughout the body. When blockage in one part of a channel occurs, it impedes the flow in others. Acupuncture remove the blockage and revives the usual flow through the meridians, restoring the energy flow and help the body's internal organs with imbalances. Acupuncture's scientific rationale is that inserting needles at acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system, releasing chemicals which either alleviate pain or affect the body's internal regulating system. When we cure various diseases, we usually use Koryo acupuncture needles but we have another choices. For example, grains like rice or seeds of spinach can be used. Adhere the grains on the acupuncture spots with adhesive plaster bandage at least 10 hours a day for a week. Chronic diseases need longer treatment periods. If you press the acupuncture points with the tip of a ball point pen, you can know whether the corresponding internal organs have problems or not. If the spots you have pressed are aching, the corresponding internal organs have some kind of diseases. You can see hands, ears and feet in the diagrams and there are meridian points on them. Apply grains or seeds on the spots. It will be more effective if you adhere grains on the hands, ears and feet at the same time. One more comment! Prevention is better than cure.

1 Ignore the numberals & letters on the diagram.

2. Prick the points with a day.Koryo acupuncture needle about 1зо or apply Seoambong and Seoam moxibustion.

 3. If yoy can not purchase these tools of treatment, you can use sand granules of 2зо in diameter. Whatever materials or tools you use, it doesn't matter. The most important thing is stimulation. Stimulate the points with the tip of a ball point pen or your nail at least 10~20 minutes 2~3 times a
