Definition : A theoretical tunnel, or short cut, through the fabric of space-time. A wormhole would (probably) connect two black holes, or a black hole and a white hole. The other end of a wormhole could be anywhere - either in another part of the same Universe, or in an entirely different Universe altogether. The wormhole could also emerge in another time - leading to speculation that time travel might be possible. Wormholes were predicted by some solutions to the equations of the general theory of relativity, although their existence has not been proved. However, attempts to prove that wormholes are impossible have also not been successful. Copyright©1998
