The ends are any part of the top surface of the table-this means all corner shots are also good. The sides are just that-the vertical sides of the table solid. Granted these can vary from table to table, as thicknesses are different, but the fact that it only touched the side and not the top is always the same no matter what.

If the ball touches the top of the table in any way, including the edge (you can argue, but usually the edges are considered good), it's good, but if someone returned it from below the table to only touch the side entirely or the bottom edge (or bottom surface), then it's the opponent's point.

The location does not affect this-this can happen at the ends of the table, or at the sides right next to the net. All that matters is the height of the ball.

: The rule is that if the ball touches the end of the table, it's good; sides of the table - it's bad. When talking about ends and sides, do they mean the white endlines and sidelines?
