Dust mite allergy
What is dust ?
Dust is not of a homogeneous composition but it is different from flat to flat and area from room to room . Dust usually consists of hair and of people´s and animal´s skin daudruff, it also consists of textile fibres, feathers, bacteria, dust mite, agae, mould and a lot of other things. Each of these elements can cause an allergy. Most of the patients reacting allergic to dust are allergic to dust mite.
What are indications for dust mite allergies?
You can find dust mites in every household up to 1,800 metres above sea-level. They can´t be seen. Dust mite live from skin dandruff of human beings. They can mainly be found on upolstery and on mattresses. The dryed excrements of dust mites are the main reason for the allergies. It is very difficult to get these small balls out of your carpet pile.
What are the symptoms of dust mite allergy?
(House-) Dust, which exists in every flat can partly cause serious allergic reactions. The aches and pains which mostly appear all over the year can especially be felt in the respiratory organs, in the nose and in the eyes, e.g. as cough, shortness of breath, asthma bronchiale, fits of sneezing, sniffles, itching and tearing of eyes. The maximum of acthes and pain is reacthed during hamid- warm weather or at the end or the beginning of heating periods in springtime or autumn. Very strong pains (asthmatic fit, shortness of breath) appear very often in sleeping-room in the morning after waking up or wthen making beds. Mattresses are an ideal place of resisdencefor mites, because the skin is flaking off and there is enough humidity, which humans emit while sleeping.
What are the possibilities of allergic treatment ?
Because of the existing results of the allergic diagnosis, your physican will chose the special and correct medical treatment. In most of the cases you have to do a specific immunotherapy with dust mite extract, because you can't avoid the contact with dust mites.
Depending on the duration of the aches and pains, you regularly get an injection of an allergen solvent, for a period of 2-3 years. (for children there are solvents to drip) so you get insensitive to the allergens. An additional medical treatment might be necessary.
