There is a lot of traffic going on in the city, therefore you can find a subway with a length of about 1.100 kilometers and the railwaystation Central is one of the biggest stations in the world. Until 1960 they build a lot of roads with bridges and tunnels. You often had to pay to use these roads. After 1960 they build the Interstate Highways to avoid the crowded center of the city. The main airport is John F. Kennedy International Airport.
